Tinted glass has gained a lot of popularity today. This is a convenient and inexpensive way to protect furniture and wallpaper from fading. Reduced external visibility protects your privacy from prying eyes.
Necessary
An even, smooth support surface (a stable, solid table is suitable), a wide and flat chisel, a mallet, a wooden or plastic spatula, a soft rubber spatula, an alkaline detergent solution (liquid soap), a sharp knife (stationery can be used), a steel ruler, a bottle with a spray nozzle for ironing linen, tint film
Instructions
Step 1
In today's market, there are a large number of companies offering to order window frames with double-glazed windows. Made of wood, plastic or aluminum, equipped with sealed glass units, these windows provide significantly more comfort and sound insulation compared to conventional double glazing. As a rule, companies selling windows offer to pre-make the tinting of glass units you like before installation. What if the window is already installed, but there is a need for tinting? For example, they demolished the house opposite to create a shade, or cut down a tree whose branches were protected from direct sunlight.
Step 2
For tinting glass, it is best to contact window sales companies, but you can do it yourself. First you need to dismantle the glass unit. Place the chisel in the middle of the long glazing bead where the glazing beads and the frame meet. Press lightly so that the chisel goes into the slot and a gap forms. Tilt the chisel towards the frame, tap the chisel handle towards the glass unit with your palm. When the gap is wide enough, insert a wooden or plastic spatula and widen it further. Take out the glazing bead and do the same with all the other glazing beads. Remove the topmost glazing bead last, since if you leave the bottom last, the glass unit may fall out. Remove straightening plates from the window, if any. Tilt the glass unit slightly towards you and take it out, holding it at the sides.
Step 3
Before applying the tint film, wash and dry the glass unit. Clean the table from crumbs, oil, dirt. The work is best done indoors, free from dust and drafts. Place the glass unit on the table. Make sure the glass is level and still. Roll out the tint film, applying it firmly to the glass. Using a ruler and a knife, cut along the contour of the glass, removing excess. You can leave a small margin, which you then have to trim. Remove the cut-out piece of film and apply soap to the glass. Spray evenly over the entire surface. Remove a few centimeters of the protective layer of the film and attach it to the glass. While gradually removing the backing, stick the film onto the glass base.
Step 4
When the film is stuck on, use a rubber spatula to remove air bubbles and liquid residues. Leave the glass unit on the table to dry. After the film is dry, trim off the excess at the edges and put the bag back on the frame, securing it with glazing beads. The surface of the glass with the film must be inside the room.
