As soon as the first frost sets in, for many forgetful motorists, the problem of defrosting the water in the windscreen washer tank becomes urgent. Not every car owner knows what to do in such a situation.
Instructions
Step 1
Drive the vehicle to a warm room. Underground parking lots for shopping malls, a heated garage or a car wash will do just fine. The water will thaw in 20-30 minutes. After the water is completely defrosted, dilute it with a special anti-freeze liquid intended for winter use in windscreen washer tanks. If the frost is very hard, it is best to drain the water completely and pour in undiluted antifreeze liquid instead.
Step 2
You can offer a more budgetary option. Pour the cheapest vodka or rubbing alcohol into the washer tank. The cost of vodka in comparison with non-freezing liquid differs at times, and the effect is the same. Dilute the washer reservoir with two bottles of vodka. This is enough to keep the water from freezing. If a severe cold snap is promised, add another bottle of vodka. I want to warn readers. If the traffic police inspector stops you and starts sniffing at you, you must immediately explain to him that instead of frost-free, you pour vodka into the washer tank. Otherwise, you risk losing a lot of time, passing the examination for alcohol intoxication.
Step 3
Alternatively, you can suggest pouring boiling water from a kettle directly into the neck of the washer tank. Boiling water helps well when the frost is not very strong. But even in freezing conditions, boiling water will melt the ice and speed up the thawing process of the entire tank. Perhaps one teapot will not do. Therefore, it is better to prepare a canister in advance, pour five liters of boiling water into it and only then go to the car.
Step 4
Remember that water itself thaws from a heated engine over time, which will depend on the ambient temperature. If, for example, you know that you will be stuck in a traffic jam when the windshield is not very dirty, then you can not defrost the washer reservoir, but simply wait until it thaws itself.
