Electric motors are widely used in various devices and mechanisms, from household appliances to automobiles. Quite often, in the practice of modeling, it is necessary to supply operating models with motors. The easiest way, of course, is to choose an engine with the required parameters and buy it in a store, but it is much more interesting to make it yourself from the simplest materials.

Necessary

  • - strips of tin;
  • - sewing needle (pin);
  • - wooden block;
  • - threads;
  • - nitrolac;
  • - glue;
  • - steel wire;
  • - enameled wire with a cross section of 0.05 mm;
  • - scissors for metal;
  • - a hammer;
  • - soldering iron.

Instructions

Step 1

Familiarize yourself with the electric motor diagram and its structure. It consists of a bracket, a post, a stator, an armature, a collector, a brush and a holder. All components of the device are mounted on the base. Now you can start making the engine

Step 2

Make the armature axis from nickelin wire with a diameter of about 0.3 mm. For this purpose, a sewing needle or safety pin will do. Bend the halves of which the anchor consists of strips of thin sheet 30 mm wide.

Step 3

Make a groove in the middle of each half of the anchor. To do this, saw through a groove in a wooden block, then put a tin strip on it, install a wire with a diameter of 0.5 mm on top. Now hit the wire with a hammer to make a dimple. Do the same with the second part. Fold both halves of the armature and solder the axis into them, having previously tinned it with a soldering iron.

Step 4

Wrap the collector drum with an outer diameter of 2 mm from threads, smearing them with glue so that they do not fall apart. On a round metal rod, bend the collector lamellas (contact plates) out of the thick copper foil. Cover the inner parts of the armature (where the winding should be) with two layers of varnish.

Step 5

Lay 480 turns of wire with a diameter of 0.05 mm in the slots of the armature. For soldering a wire of such a small cross-section, it is convenient to use an additional tip made of copper wire, pointed at the end and wound on a soldering iron.

Step 6

Bend the stator housing out of thin sheet metal. Wind 280 turns of enameled wire with a diameter of 0.05 mm on the stator. Connect the stator in series with the armature.

Step 7

Make two drums out of threads with glue and connect them to the anchor winding, having previously cleaned the wire with sandpaper. Apply strips with nitro paint to both drums so that they are slightly less than the semicircle of the drum and are located on opposite sides.

Step 8

Assemble all parts into a single piece and set on a base (wooden stand or plexiglass plate). Use a 4.5V coin cell battery as a power source for the micromotor.
