In the spring of 2011, according to the order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, the rules for registering motor vehicles were changed, and now, for the sale of cars and motorcycles, their owners do not need to remove the vehicle from the traffic police register. Let's see in what cases this is possible, and what steps the car owner needs to take.

Instructions

Step 1

First of all, you should know that the sale of a vehicle without removing it from the register is possible only if both the former and the new owners are residents of the same region. In the event that the new owner has a permanent registration at the place of residence in another area, the purchase of a car for him will be carried out according to the usual scheme, that is, with the removal and registration of the car with the traffic police.

Step 2

To sell a car without removing it from the register, the owner only needs to conclude a sale and purchase agreement with the buyer and transfer the vehicle passport and registration certificate to the latter. Having received these documents, the new owner must contact the traffic police department at the place of residence to amend the registration documents.

Step 3

Thus, the car can be sold together with the existing license plates, which the new owner can exchange when receiving a new registration certificate for a new series of signs or for similar ones if the license plates are damaged or deformed due to an accident. If there is no need to exchange license plates, the new owner can leave the existing ones.

Step 4

If during the sale you wish to leave the license plates and install them on another car that is in your property, you will have to deregister the car in the same way as before. The only exception is the new paragraph of the rules for the procedure for the removal and registration, according to which the inspection of the vehicle now excludes the verification of the vehicle engine number.
