The audio system is unable to reproduce the entire frequency range with high quality using a single speaker. To reproduce low frequencies, you need a speaker with a large cone area - a subwoofer. In addition, a subwoofer is also required for installed multimedia systems.
Instructions
Step 1
The subwoofer is designed to reproduce frequencies up to 100 Hz, but its main frequencies are 60-85 Hz. Since this device requires volumetric acoustic design, it is easiest to place the subwoofer in the trunk. Installing a subwoofer in the front panel is technically very difficult and rarely used. All known subwoofers can be divided into 3 groups: woofers, active and passive subwoofers. An active subwoofer is the easiest to install and consists of a woofer and an amplifier. It is inexpensive, small in size and all the difficulties during installation are in laying and connecting the necessary cables. The composition of a passive subwoofer differs from an active one in the absence of a built-in amplifier. Separately, the amplifier must be selected. Woofers differ from passive subwoofers in the absence of a case, which must be manufactured independently. The most common speaker sizes are 8, 10, 12 and 15 inches. A self-made subwoofer enclosure will be individual, original and compact.
Step 2
The most common are closed-type subwoofer enclosures with a bass reflex. The closed box is easy to manufacture and forgives many installer mistakes. It must be made sealed, durable, paying attention to mating with the speaker surface. If done correctly, the diffuser should resist pressing and slowly return to its original state. If you use the entire volume of the sedan trunk as a subwoofer housing, you must completely isolate the trunk from the passenger compartment and install a special acoustic shelf. A bass reflex port is a port of a certain area and length inside the subwoofer enclosure. A bass reflex enclosure develops a higher sound pressure than a conventional enclosure. The difficulty lies in the correct combination of the volume of the box, the length and section of the port. An error even in one parameter will ruin the performance of the subwoofer. Regardless of how you install the subwoofer, it should be as isolated as possible from the rear speakers installed in the rear shelf.
Step 3
The subwoofer can be installed in the trunk of your car. This is the simplest method and it is easy to assemble the required subwoofer enclosure yourself. For concealed installation of the subwoofer, its full or partial installation is used in the corner of the trunk, close to the wing. You can even more discreetly install the subwoofer by hiding it under the inner wall of the trunk. Another option is to install the subwoofer on the floor. This either raises the floor or uses the volume inside the spare wheel.
Step 4
All subwoofers have left and right inputs and require a long, thick speaker cable to connect. This unit can be connected to the outputs on an amplifier and speakers to the high level outputs on the subwoofer. This will distribute the load on the entire audio system evenly, and it can be gradually increased. You can connect a subwoofer to the same outputs as your speakers. For the best option, place the subwoofer in the desired location, connect and listen to music with bass.
