Step 1

First, upgrade the braking system. For a car of the XXI century, the stopping distance from 100 km / h to 48 meters is a disastrous result. Therefore, do not spare funds for the revision of the brakes, especially if you increase the power of the motor. Step 2

Change the wheels of the car to 16-inch wheels to install strong enough brakes. This will at the same time allow the installation of wide, low-profile tires with high performance characteristics. Unlike other passenger VAZ models, the Kalina wheel arches do not require modification for the use of wheels with a landing diameter of up to 16 inches. In addition, after such a modernization, it will be possible to lower the body somewhat.

Step 3

Modify the suspension. To do this, install sports tuning springs and shock absorbers on the Kalina. Together with the previous modifications, this will improve the information content and sharpness of the steering, save the car from rolls in corners, and improve handling on asphalt and a broken highway. In order to completely eliminate understeer and poor steering response, install racing adjustable struts. But keep in mind that their cost is quite high.

To lightly boost the 8-valve powertrain, install a sports camshaft, an oversized throttle valve, a direct-flow exhaust system and a zero resistance air filter on it. Get expensive chokes, with a diameter of about 54 mm. Cheap ones often go to waste. Carry out chip tuning with a change in the engine management program. All these improvements will allow Kalina to get under way at idle, accelerate a couple of seconds faster than a standard car and spin the engine up to 7000 rpm.

For a more serious increase in power and other characteristics of the engine, change the head of the block to a sports one. If the base Kalina engine is 8-valve, the cost of the sports head will be very high, almost equal to the cost of the car in the basic configuration. For a 16-valve engine, a tuning head costs almost 10 times cheaper. In addition, at this stage, cylinder boring, replacement of the crankshaft and injectors will be required. The result of all the modifications will be an increase in the power of the 8-valve engine up to 115-145 hp, 16-valve - up to 170 hp.
