The engine of the VAZ-2101 car, popularly referred to as "classics", is not eternal. Therefore, after a certain mileage, it should be repaired. In this case, remove its head before pulling it out. But this is rarely required, most often the engine is removed from the car as a whole, without disassembly.

It is necessary

  • - key for 8;
  • - key for 10;
  • - key for 13;
  • - socket head 19;
  • - chain or rope;
  • - winch or steel pipe;
  • - containers for draining oil and coolant.

Instructions

Step 1

Take the 13 key and remove the hood, this will make the task easier. First, unscrew six bolts (three on each side).

Step 2

Drain the coolant. To do this, place a container (8-10 liters, preferably a basin) under the lower radiator hose.

Step 3

Open the cock of the interior heater, loosen the clamping clamp on the lower radiator pipe and disconnect it from the radiator. As soon as liquid flows, open the cap on the expansion tank and, if any, on the radiator itself.

Step 4

Drain the oil from the engine crankcase by substituting a container (3L) and unscrewing the plug.

Step 5

Take a 10 key and unscrew the three bolts on the air filter and remove its cover. Using an 8 wrench, unscrew the four bolts that secure the lower part of the filter to the carburetor and remove it.

Step 6

Disconnect the choke cable from the carburetor, remove the accelerator lever with a screwdriver. Loosen the clamps and disconnect the fuel hose from the tank to the fuel pump.

Step 7

Unscrew the bolts holding the radiator with a 10 wrench and pull it out.

Step 8

Take a 13 box spanner and remove the four nuts that secure the muffler to the exhaust manifold. Disconnect the passenger compartment heater pipes from the block head and pump.

Step 9

Remove the attachment from the engine - generator, ignition distributor, starter by unscrewing the last three bolts with a 13 wrench - two on top and one on the bottom. Disconnect the oil sensor and coolant sensor connectors.

Step 10

Take the head 19 and with an extended wrench from the bottom of the car, unscrew the four bolts that secure the gearbox to the engine. Place the stop under the gearbox.

Step 11

Disconnect the driveline from the gearbox, then from the car body and slide it back so that the output shaft comes out of the engine.

Step 12

Unscrew the nuts securing the engine to the cushions on the front beam from above. Tie a rope or chain around the motor.

Step 13

Pull the engine out with a winch or by hand. In the latter case, you need an elevation near the wheels, and insert a steel pipe with a diameter of 50 mm into the belts or chain, the edges of which should protrude 60-100 cm beyond the dimensions of the machine.
