Electricity in the garage is necessary not only for lighting, but also for working with special equipment and power tools. Since the conduct of electrical wiring requires permission from government agencies, this should be thought about even at the stage of designing the garage. The implementation of external wiring, as well as the connection to the electrical panel and the installation of the meter requires a professional approach, therefore only licensed specialists are allowed to such work. The owner of the garage can also deal with internal wiring.
Instructions
Step 1
Please note that there are two options for installing internal wiring: open and closed. To pass the cable, grooves are required - special holes where the cable is laid, after which it is possible to carry out facing work, which consists in covering the walls with plaster. This option is suitable for brick and concrete garages, while electrical wiring for metal and wooden garages can also be laid open. In this case, the cable is fixed to the wall after the cladding work. Choose the most suitable way to conduct electricity to the garage.
Step 2
Regardless of the way you choose to electrify your garage, create a plan that will accurately map the placement of cables, outlets, switches, lights, and more. Be sure to consider the correct order of connection and wiring in straight lines and turns at an angle of 90 degrees. Connect luminaires and switches in series, placing sockets in front of the switch.
Step 3
With a well thought out plan, and using a building tape with dye or regular cord, mark the walls before starting the wiring.
Step 4
Place the light switches on the right side of the garage door at a distance of 1 - 1.5 m from the floor, install the sockets at a height of 500 mm from the floor, and also place the wires no closer than 100 mm from the ceiling level.
