Mopeds "Alpha" and "Delta" from the Chinese manufacturer Chongqing Wonjan have an almost identical device. However, each of them is designed for specific purposes, and therefore the choice between the two models should be made based on the actual conditions in which the moped will be used.
Characteristics of the Alpha moped
The moped has a single-cylinder four-stroke power unit with a working volume of 72 cubic centimeters. The four-speed gearbox operates in a ring shift pattern with a blocking transition from fourth to first speed. The moped develops a maximum power of 5 horsepower at a permissible speed of 75 km / h. The dry weight of the moped is 81 kg. The front and rear wheels are equipped with drum brakes and hydraulic shock absorbers. With a 4-liter fuel tank, the Alpha's range without refueling is about 250 kilometers. The moped is single, its maximum carrying capacity is 120 kg.
The scope of delivery of the moped includes a small wardrobe trunk, which is attached to a metal trunk. There are no more places for placing cargo. Even with 17-inch wheels, the Alpha has a rather low ground clearance, which makes it not always good at handling bumps. For such a weight, the engine is quite powerful, climbing a slope of 15-20 degrees is carried out without much difficulty. The starting run-in run is 3 thousand kilometers. Of the main problem areas, the piston system can be distinguished, in which, after several hundred kilometers, extraneous noise appears. There are also flaws in the electrical and ignition system, there is no fuel sensor. Generally speaking, the quality of a moped can be very different, depending on how it was assembled.
Characteristics of the Delta moped
The four-stroke Delta engine has a single cylinder, the power of the unit is 3 hp. The gearbox is four-speed, the same as that of the Alpha. The moped weighs 90 kilograms, which, with a reduced engine volume, gives a lack of traction power and an increase in gasoline consumption up to two liters per 100 km. The brakes are drum, the front fork is telescopic, the rear suspension of the moped is pendulum. The ground clearance is 11 centimeters. The Delta has a reinforced rack to accommodate cargo on the frame, and the rear seat can be removed to use the trunk.
The increased fuel consumption is partly compensated by a 4.5-liter volumetric tank. The carrying capacity of the moped is 100 kg, there are two places for sitting. Due to the low power, the Delta engine does not cope well with loads, although speed characteristics on a flat road do not suffer. The wheels of the moped are 17 inches in diameter, but the engine is positioned quite high, which increases the moped's flotation. Since the design of the engine and gearbox of mopeds is identical, they have the same problems. There are also vulnerabilities in the electrical circuit.
Comparison of mopeds
Alfa and Delta mopeds are available with different volumes of the power unit, so the lack of power can be compensated for. The structure of the main units of mopeds is the same, the same can be said about the spare parts base. The choice should be made taking into account the goals of operation. Alpha is perfect for driving in the urban cycle: it is more dynamic when driving and is not designed for off-road driving. Delta is suitable for commercial use. It can accommodate a large amount of improvised cargo, and the high seating position will allow you to move around bumps on a dirt road without any problems.
