Daewoo Nexia is a modern car designed for use in countries with cold climates. It is produced with sufficient thermal insulation, but in order to reduce the cost, the manufacturer does not install hood thermal insulation. This insulation is self-made using commercially available foil insulation.
It is necessary
- - foil-clad isolon (preferably special for a sauna) with a thickness of at least 8 mm;
- - fastening clips (Volgovskiye are ideal);
- - knife, adhesive tape, clamps, glue
Instructions
Step 1
Attach a sheet of isolon to the inner surface of the hood and mark the workpiece. Trace the outlines with chalk or a marker. Consider a small margin when cutting. Secure the cut out workpiece with adhesive tape for the convenience of further work. Then make the necessary holes for the clips, pressing the thermal insulation against the metal. Fix the insulation completely with clips.
Step 2
Place the adhesive tape on top of the radiator and close the hood. The insulating tape will adhere to the material and indicate the cut location. Trim the insulation around the edges, on the ribs of the hood, along the inner edge of the engine compartment. Cover with a piece of plastic where it comes into contact with the battery.
Step 3
Carry out preventive maintenance on the heating system. They are especially relevant for old cars. Clean and flush the radiator. Typically, the air flow from the stove will then become hotter. In the winter period of operation, cover the radiator with cardboard or a sheet of isolon (which is more effective).
Step 4
Insulate the pipelines of the heating system. This will reduce heat loss in the hot air entering the passenger compartment. To do this, cut out a piece of insulation material and wrap it around the pipeline. Then secure with a cable tie or good contact glue.
Step 5
Also on an old car, replace the door seals. To find places of damage to old seals, wash the car at a car wash. Leaked water will indicate wear and tear points. New seals are inexpensive, so don't skimp or repair them.
Step 6
Purchase and install heated seat covers. Equip the steering wheel with a heating. This will not only keep you warm when getting into the car, but will also increase the comfort of the cabin and the cost when it is sold. For the driver, back heating will also prevent osteochondrosis and radiculitis.
Step 7
If the complex of measures taken is not enough, and you want to make the Nexia even warmer, make additional thermal insulation of the cabin. This operation is highly labor-intensive and time-consuming, so it is better to do it in a professional workshop.
