With an increase in the vehicle's operating mileage, a characteristic metallic "rustle" appears in the noise of a running engine. When the first signs of such noise appear, the camshaft drive chain, which is located at the top of the engine cylinder head, must be tightened.

Step 1
When a car owner encounters a similar problem for the first time, it sometimes seems to him that he will not be able to cope with the elimination of the defect on his own, without the help of a minder. But this is far from the case.
Before starting the procedure for tensioning the timing chain (gas distribution mechanism), carefully study the attached diagram. Pay attention to position number 7 - this is the camshaft chain tension mechanism, which you will have to work with in the future.
Step 2
After the study of the circuit, open the hood and go in from the right side of the car. In the front of the engine, next to the exhaust manifold, we find the required device, on which it is necessary to release the chain tensioner cover with a 13 mm key, two or three turns. Then we put the key on the crankshaft ratchet and turn it clockwise several times. It is necessary to stop at the moment when it is necessary to apply maximum physical effort to the wrench, upon reaching which we securely tighten the chain tensioner plug.
Step 3
We remove the key from the ratchet, start the engine, and enjoy the smooth operation of the engine.
