When designing a car, great attention is paid to its aerodynamic properties. They allow the car to stay on the road better, go faster and more economically. But at the same time, you have to reduce the ground clearance, which is highly discouraged to do on our roads. You can increase the vehicle clearance yourself.

It is necessary

  • - jack;
  • - lifting kit;
  • - set of tools;
  • - pillows to increase the clearance.

Instructions

Step 1

Place the polyurethane stands on the racks. To do this, remove the strut support and place these stands between it and the body. This will increase the clearance by 1.5-2 cm. For the same purposes, use aluminum, rubber and plastic supports.

Step 2

In order to increase the vehicle's clearance more radically, buy the appropriate lifting kit from the store. It consists of aluminum alloy cushions and new, longer mounting bolts for the front suspension and rubber cushions and brackets for the rear suspension.

Step 3

Begin mounting the kit from the front. Remove the front struts, remove the old short bolts. Place aluminum cushions in their cups, making sure they fit snugly against the uprights. Failure to do so could damage the stand, so adjust the pillow to size with a file. Reinstall the stand by tightening the extended mounting bolts.

Step 4

Raise the car on two jacks to free the rear wheels, or better, lift it on a lift. Remove the rear struts, if the suspension is independent, and install rubber pads on top of them. If there is a beam at the back, unscrew the shock absorbers from it, and install a rubber cushion under the springs. After that, attach the brackets to the shock absorbers, and the beam to the brackets.

Step 5

Check the tightness on all undercarriage assemblies. As a result of this operation, the vehicle's ground clearance (clearance) will increase by approximately 3-5 cm. This is quite enough to significantly improve the cross-country ability of any vehicle. But at the same time, the aerodynamic performance, as well as the car's handling, will deteriorate somewhat, since the center of gravity is shifted slightly higher. The more the rear springs have sagged, the thicker the rear cushions get. There are some choices for this purpose.
