The Velcro tire is a non-studded rubber equipped with a tread with a large number of grooves. This type of tire allows you to move more comfortably on a road flooded with water. The features of the pattern on the rubber surface help to absorb excess water and drain it along the grooves of the ornament, which contributes to the adhesion (sticking) of the tire to the track surface.
It is necessary
Velcro splint, regular splint (for comparison), 100 ml of water
Instructions
Step 1
Determine if Velcro tires are suitable for use on your vehicle. This type of non-studded winter rubber can be of great service if you move around the city in winter and off-season. On ice-free roads, these tires help the vehicle run almost silently and improve maneuverability. Outside the city, on icy roads, Velcro will not allow the car to cope with a difficult situation. If you often have to ply between settlements, it is better to refuse this type of tires.
Step 2
Choose the tire brand that best suits your car. You can buy "sticky" tires of the company in whose tires you constantly "shoe" your transport. Check with your dealer if your favorite brand makes this type of rubber. Ask for a catalog. If you don't have a special preference, choose Dunlop Graspic DS3, Yokohama ice Guard IG30, Yokohama W. Drive V902 Velcro, which are recognized as high quality by international standards.
Step 3
Take the tire in your hands and feel the rubber. The material should be soft to the touch. Even at ambient temperatures below 25 degrees, high-quality Velcro rubber remains flexible. Compare this to a regular or studded tire - they are more rigid. If the Velcro strap does not flex well in the hands, the quality of the rubber is not very good.
Step 4
Consider the ornament on the rubber surface. The grooves should be small and numerous. It is this feature of the tread structure that allows you to quickly and efficiently drain water in contact with a wet surface. Take 50-100 ml of water and, with the seller's permission, pour over the rubber. As a result of this experience, you will see how the liquid will fill the space between the small patterns. It seems to be absorbed into the tire like a sponge.
Step 5
Examine the surface of the tire carefully. Velcro will wear out rather quickly due to its softness. The tires should be free of scuffs and traces of use (unless, of course, you are buying a known used product).
