Step 1
Most amplifiers nowadays come with XLR inputs and 1/4 '' jacks. This equipment allows you to connect a mixer or other equipment that processes the audio signal. Be sure to take into account that XLR and 1/4 inch connectors do not have the same voltage levels. This can be verified with an amplifier test. XLR connectors have a lower voltage than 1/4”connectors. When connecting, you need to pay attention to match the output level of the mixer with the input level of the amplifier.

Most beginners cannot or are afraid to hook up an amplifier on their own. It is for them that there is a proven rule: you cannot connect an amplifier using two different inputs. For example, you do not need to use a wire or 1/4 inch to XLR adapter when connecting. This causes an excessive signal to be fed to the low level connector.
Step 3
When connecting, you need to pay great attention to the outputs. Almost all amplifiers have a set of Speakon, Banana and / or 1/4”connectors. Speakon is a connector that has an additional lock to prevent accidental disconnection. The MDP is a connector with two protruding clamps. 1/4 '' connectors are the same as in other equipment, only the wire that connects to it is of a larger gauge. That is why it is forbidden to connect ordinary wires in order to replace 1/4 inch speaker wires.

Speakon connectors are most often used by people who are afraid of accidental disconnection. The MPD connector provides more flexible speaker connection. Stripped bare wires can be easily connected to this connector. Of these, the most unsafe choice is 1/4 inch wire. If the connector accidentally touches the wire with a metal surface, it will short circuit and damage the amplifier.
