The hood of a car is one of the most vulnerable parts of it. Scratches and chips often appear on it, resulting from the operation of the car. Remember that if you do not monitor the paintwork of your four-wheeled friend, it can lead to corrosion of its body. Scratches should be repaired and the sooner the better.

Instructions

Step 1

Remember that the best way to fix scratches on the hood is to repaint it completely. Then the risk of "not getting" into the native paint color is minimized. But remember that repainting a part completely, and especially a hood that is larger than the rest of the car's body parts, will be quite costly for your budget. It is also necessary to take into account that no matter how well the part is painted, the factory paint is still much better and of higher quality.

Step 2

To remove a scratch from the hood, you need to choose a paint that matches the color of your car. This can be done in an auto enamel store where a computer selection of paints is performed. To do this, remove the gas tank flap from the car and come with it to the store, where the consultant will select the desired paint color. For a small scratch, 50 to 100 grams of paint is usually enough.

Step 3

Before carrying out work, wash the hood well, and preferably the whole car, and wipe its surface dry. It is better to carry out work in the garage or in a special box, where there is no direct exposure to sunlight and other weather phenomena that can negatively affect the final result.

Step 4

If the scratch is not deep, then you can paint over it with a thin brush. There are also ready-made paint cans, which are quite convenient and easy to use. Before using these cans, remember to shake the paint in them.

Step 5

If the scratch is deep, i.e. to metal, then sand it with the smallest size special emery paper. As a rule, this is zero. After that, the surface must be degreased with acetone, dried, primed and dried again. The primer must be purchased in advance in the same store where you purchased the paint.

Step 6

Spray the paint onto the prepared area. The spray paint should be held exactly at the distance indicated in its instructions. By reducing the distance, you risk getting stains on the surface to be painted, and by increasing it, you will get a matte surface due to the fact that the paint will dry out before reaching the area to be painted. After completing the work, let the paint dry for about a day.
