Instructions

Step 1

Before proceeding with the direct repair of the plastic bumper, it is necessary to clean the damaged area of excess debris. A deformed section of a bumper often has ragged edges that spoil the natural geometry and smoothness of the surface. Remove any broken parts of the bumper that protrude from its surface. As a result, the size of the damaged area may increase, but without this procedure, quality repairs will not be possible. For these purposes, you can use sandpaper or a regular blade. Repeat this operation for the rear part of the bumper. Rub over the cleaned surface with sandpaper to make it as smooth as possible.

Step 2

Before filling the damaged area with any filler, it is necessary to give it rigidity. Use a special auto cloth or fiberglass for this. Cut a piece of material approximately 2-3 cm larger than the bumper to be repaired on all sides. Saturate the fabric with special polyester resin and glue it to the rear of the bumper so that a patch forms in the damaged area. Leave the bumper in this state for 3-4 hours.

Step 3

After the patch is completely dry, you can start filling the hole. To do this, use a fiberglass automotive putty. Apply the filler in even thin layers, allowing each layer to dry before applying the next layer. After filling the area to be repaired with filler, smooth the surface with sandpaper.

Step 4

After the main part of the repair is completed, the bumper must be painted. To do this, use a car paint designed for plastic surfaces. Once the paint is dry, apply several coats of varnish over it.
