The bumper suffers more often than other parts during daily use and accidents. Today, almost all cars are fitted with plastic bumpers. When struck, the bumper protects the most expensive part of the car from deformation - the body. The bumper will have to be replaced after the impact, but if the damage is not very significant, then it can be repaired.

Instructions

Step 1

Prepare the bumper for repair and painting. Remove grease and dirt. Sand the scratches, cover with putty and only then paint. If there is a crack on the bumper, then the place of deformation must first be heated with a hair dryer or a burner, but so that the part does not deform.

Step 2

After warming up, return the bumper to its original shape, fix it and let cool. Then sand the place of deformation, degrease with a solvent and apply a putty (especially for plastics).

Step 3

When the putty is dry, sand the putty surface with fine sandpaper, degrease again with solvent and cover with a primer. Sand the surface again, degrease, and then only paint. If the crack on the bumper is large, then it must be soldered. In the places where the gap turned out, do the processing of the edges. They can be soldered with an ordinary soldering iron.

Step 4

At the place of the joint, the gap must be reinforced, reinforced with a metal wire (thin) or use fiberglass and epoxy glue. To do this, from the inside, clean the place of damage to the bumper with sandpaper, remove all paint and degrease.

Step 5

Then apply glue, wire, glue and fiberglass again. For reinforcement, add a layer of glue and fiberglass. Then sand the surface, cover with a primer and paint. Use this same technology to repair the muffler hole in the bumper.

Step 6

Painting. You can paint the entire bumper or do local painting. It depends on the size of the repair, the color of the bumper, and its location. If there are numerous defects on the bumper, it is not worth painting it locally, it is better to paint it entirely. When painting, take into account the specifics of the material, because the same paint sometimes gives different shades depending on the material. After painting, it is advisable to dry the bumper for 2-3 hours at a temperature of about 60 ° C.
