Additional brake light is an option for tuning the rear lights of the car. Moreover, the financial and material costs for such tuning will be minimal. When installing and connecting an additional brake light, some nuances should be observed.
Necessary
- - Stop signal;
- - Wiring;
- - A set of screwdrivers, knife, electrical tape.
Instructions
Step 1
Additional brake lights are mounted on the rear bumper, on the rear window and on the rear spoiler. After choosing the type of additional brake light, select the required model in terms of overall dimensions. This is especially true for such equipment on the spoiler or on the rear window.
Step 2
Taking into account the technical parameters of an additional brake light is necessary if it is installed on an old-style car. The wiring and generator may not be designed to accommodate additional power consumers. Choose a brake light so that the power of the light sources used in it does not lead to negative effects on the electrical equipment. If the brake light is set too strong, the battery will begin to discharge too quickly and then fail.
Step 3
When installing an additional brake light, connect it securely to the vehicle's electrical circuit. If the device is installed in the car, pull the positive connection wire to the wires going under the rear seats to the regular feet. In order to save time and money, the negative wire can be connected to the car body through the interior trim. In the case of attaching an additional brake light under the rear bumper, run the wires directly to the regular feet. Connect the negative wire to the metal mount of the rear bumper.
Step 4
The most difficult option would be to connect power to an additional brake light installed in the rear spoiler. If the rear spoiler has a hollow body, route the wires through the voids in the spoiler body. If the spoiler does not have the necessary voids, pull the wires under the spoiler, attaching it from below with wire or staples.
Step 5
Insulate all connections carefully. After completing all work, be sure to check all installed wiring. Carefully check that the positive wires do not touch the exposed areas with the negative wires or other metal parts of the car. Otherwise, there will be a short circuit and failure of the car's electrical system.
