When making a deal to buy or sell a car, very often vehicle owners neglect the long and difficult operations of completing a full set of documents and confine themselves to only one general power of attorney. It gives you enough rights to dispose of the car, of course, it is good to be sure that it will not be revoked or canceled by the previous owner.

It is necessary

  • - civil passports (yours and the previous owner's);
  • - a copy of the general power of attorney, certified by a notary;
  • - vehicle passport;
  • - vehicle registration certificate.

Instructions

Step 1

To begin with, consider two options for re-registering the car for yourself under a general power of attorney, but one of them involves the mandatory presence of the previous owner of the car in the transaction.

Step 2

Agree with the former owner of the car about his participation in the re-registration transaction and together with him appear at the MREO (Interdistrict Registration and Examination Department) at your place of residence.

Step 3

Write applications for the removal and registration of the car in connection with the change of owner under a general power of attorney. Go through the technical inspection procedure, pay state duties, get a license plate and a vehicle passport with changed owner data.

Step 4

If you were unable to contact the former owner of the car, re-register the vehicle to your relative with subsequent re-registration to yourself. A general power of attorney gives you the right to transfer the vehicle to another person who is your relative.

Step 5

Show up with the new owner of the car (that is, with the person to whom you reissued your car under the general power of attorney) to the MREO and write an application for removing the car from the register and registering, go through the vehicle technical inspection procedure. Give the vehicle passport and general power of attorney to the registration authority.

Step 6

Pay the state duty for removing the car from the register. Get back the package of documents with the changes made to the owner's data.

Step 7

Contact the MREO at your place of residence, write an application for registration of the car. Provide a package of documents: general power of attorney for the right to own a car, vehicle passport. Pay the state fee and go through the technical inspection procedure.

Step 8

Get a license plate and a passport of a technical device with the changes made to the owner's data.
