Changing the engine oil, although not difficult, is a rather dirty job. In addition, failure to follow the correct sequence of actions can damage the vehicle. But if you have weighed all the pros and cons and still decided to change the oil without the help of a mechanic, change into work clothes, drive the car onto the overpass and get to work.

- Container for waste oil at least 5 liters

Instructions
Step 1
Warm up the engine first to prevent used oil from sticking anywhere. Then drive the car onto a special pit or overpass so that it is convenient to get close to its bottom. Provide good lighting. Do not forget to put the car on the handbrake and place bricks under the rear wheels. This will provide additional stability to the vehicle.
Step 2
Place a pallet or bucket with a capacity of at least 5 liters under the drain plug, which is located in the engine oil sump, and carefully unscrew it. Be careful! The oil gets very hot and can burn you. If you are working indoors, you can scatter sawdust under the pallet to remove oil spills and stains on the floor. They absorb oil well and are easy to clean afterwards.
Step 3
While the oil is draining, open the hood of the machine and unscrew the oil filter. You should try with your hands first. If this does not work, you will need a special key (you can buy it at an auto supply store). Place a pan under the oil filter, as there may also be used oil.
Step 4
Make sure the old oil is completely glass and screw the oil plug back into the crankcase tightly. Install a new oil filter to replace the old one. Fill the engine with new oil, according to the weather and technical conditions of vehicle operation, without adding about 1 liter. Start the engine and let it idle. Check the oil filter and oil drain hole for leaks. In case of leaks, contact a service station.
Step 5
Stop the engine and check the oil level with the dipstick after 10 minutes. Add the required amount of oil.
After a few hours of driving, stop, stop the engine, and after 10 minutes check the oil level with the dipstick. Top up if necessary.
Step 6
You should write down the type and name of the oil you filled in and the mileage of the car. This is useful for subsequent maintenance of the machine.
