The car needs constant maintenance. Oil change is an important part of car maintenance. If you are going to change the oil in the car yourself, then first read the instruction manual. Read what kind of oil and how much is filled in your car. Also see where the oil filter is.
Necessary
Oil, filter and plug gaskets, a wrench for unscrewing the oil filter. You will also need a set of wrenches and a clean rag
Instructions
Step 1
When you have all the necessary components, you need to find a place where you will change the oil. You will have to be under the car and for it to be safe and convenient, you will need an overpass or a garage with a viewing hole. Do not try to jack up the machine to change the oil - this is unsafe for you. It is better to change the oil when the car is warmed up, since the oil will be less viscous, which means that it will flow out of the engine better.
Step 2
When you have driven the car onto the overpass, open the hood and get down under the car. Do not forget to change into work clothes and bring a 7-10 liter container with you. You will pour the used oil into it. Also take a set of keys and rags.
Step 3
Your car may have an engine crankcase guard. To get to the drain plug of the oil pan, remove the protection, usually it is mounted on four bolts. Also note that if the crankcase protection is metal, it is most likely heavy. After the crankcase has been removed, unscrew the plug on the oil pan. The pallet itself looks like a kitchen sink when viewed from the back. Unscrew the plug counterclockwise. As soon as the plug has moved, put the key down. Determine the place where the oil will flow from the cork, and place the prepared container in this place. Then start gently unscrewing the plug with your fingers, twist slowly. Please note that the oil will gush out with pressure at first, so when you feel that the plug has been unscrewed, abruptly move your hand with the plug to the side. Let the oil drain into the container. You start unscrewing the oil filter.
Step 4
Proceed to unscrew the oil filter. First, determine where it is. Try to get to the filter while under the car. If you can't, try from above with the hood open. Be prepared to bend your arm very hard. Once you get to it with a tool, try to unscrew it. If you can't, get a special key. Take your time and don't be nervous. As soon as the filter has moved from its place, place a container with used oil under it and start unscrewing further. Part of the oil from the removed filter can get on the engine parts, wipe everything off with a clean cloth.
Step 5
Now proceed with the assembly in the reverse order. Take a new filter, be sure to lubricate the rubber O-ring with used oil. Dip your finger in the oil and slide it over the ring. Screw the filter back on, but do not tighten too much so that it can be easily removed later. Screw back the sump plug, remember to put a new gasket under the plug. When you have installed the new filter and plug, climb out from under the car.
Step 6
Now you need to open the hood and locate the oil fill location. Typically, this cork is highlighted with an oil can with oil droplets on it. Remove the lid and carefully begin to fill in the oil to the desired volume. When filling, check the level with the dipstick. The normal level is the midpoint between the minimum and maximum mark. Replace the filler cap and start the car. Let it run for a couple of minutes. Shut off and check the oil again. If everything is normal, then get under the car and put the crankcase protection in place. See if oil is leaking anywhere.
