There are times when you need to remove the tint from the car windows. But if removed incorrectly, you can damage the interior trim of the passenger compartment and doors, and also a layer of glue remains, which is quite problematic to wash. Choose only proven methods of removing tinting.
It is necessary
- - hairdryer;
- - glass cleaner;
- - a rag;
- - brush;
- - laundry soap;
- - blade;
- - a sharp knife.
Instructions
Step 1
Heat the film with a hair dryer. This will help you easily remove the tint along with the adhesive. Use a construction hairdryer, but if it is not at hand, then a regular one will do. In this case, you should not use a temperature higher than forty degrees - this way you can melt the film. Try to warm up the film evenly, gently pick it up with a blade and remove.
Step 2
Keep the hair dryer away from plastic parts, you do not need to press it tightly against the glass, as it can be damaged or even cracked. If all actions are performed correctly, after removing the film, a minimum amount of glue will remain on the glass.
Step 3
Using a razor, carefully cut off the remaining layer of glue, while being careful not to scratch the surface of the glass. You can also try to wipe off the glue layer with detergents. Oily substances are perfect, acetone can be used. But keep in mind that acetone has a strong and unpleasant smell, and if it gets on other parts of the car, it may stain. When using solvents, special care and attention is required.
Step 4
Apply a solution of detergent and water to the remaining glue and wait until it dries completely. Then cover the entire surface with foam again and use a “coarse” material to wipe off the adhesive. Wipe the glass dry with a clean cloth.
