The oil change procedure is a standard, very common operation for all vehicles. However, on some Nissan models, it is difficult to access the oil filter. A striking example is the Nissan Teana.
Necessary
- - container for collecting used oil;
- - a key for unscrewing the drain plug;
- - screwdriver
Instructions
Step 1
Before changing the oil, check the operating instructions for the amount of oil to be poured in (filling volume) and its brand. Always use only the engine oil recommended by the manufacturer. In the absence (loss) of instructions, find out the brand of oil used on the filler cap.
Step 2
Warm up the engine before carrying out the oil change procedure. This is necessary for the oil to drain faster and in full. Place the vehicle on an inspection pit or overpass. Remove the plug on the power pack oil filler neck.
Step 3
Looking at the front of the car from below, find the hatch behind the inside of the right wheel, and in the area of the engine crankcase - a drain plug. Place a container under the plug to collect the old oil and unscrew it with a wrench. Never pour used oil on the ground! Having snapped off the caps securing the hatch, carefully remove it.
Step 4
Find the oil filter and pulleys in the niche under the hatch. Unscrew the filter carefully so that leaking oil does not stain pulleys and clothing. When the oil is drained, wipe up the spilled oil and wipe the oil filter seat. Always change the oil filter every time you change the oil.
Step 5
To install a new oil filter in its original place, lubricate the filter gasket with fresh engine oil and screw in the filter element with a tightening torque of 15-20 Nm. Carefully inspect the drain plug and remove any deposits on the magnet. Replace the copper ring installed on the plug with a new one. If there is no new ring, take the old one, heat it red-hot in a flame and cool in cold water. Tighten the plug with a force of 30-40 Nm
Step 6
Fill the engine oil filler neck with fresh oil to the maximum allowable level. Start the engine and check that the gauges indicate normal oil pressure. Check the oil level and top up if necessary.
Step 7
After that, put the hatch in its original place and screw on the oil filler cap. Find out the timing of oil change in the operating instructions or in the authorized service centers. Change the oil more often if the vehicle is used in harsh conditions.
