Currently, the State Duma imposes more and more restrictions on the actions of motorists on the road. Excessive speed, non-observance of road signs, incorrect use of the seat belt, all these violations are fined.
General Provisions
According to the official data of sociologists, the most frequently issued fine is a speeding ticket. It all depends on the numerical parameter of the violation. You can pay a large amount, or you can lose your driver's license. That is why more than half of all motorists purchase such a device as a radar detector.
Types of equipment
There are two types of radar detectors: the actual radar detector and the radar detector. They are fundamentally different. Antiradar operates using special high-frequency waves that block the operation of state radars that monitor the speed limit on the roads. Some radar detectors can simply distort the actual vehicle speed. The latest, more advanced models are even capable of disabling the monitoring equipment. The radar detector only gives the car owner a signal that a working radar is approaching. The radius of its action is 1-3 kilometers, this is enough for the driver to have time to reduce the speed to the prescribed one.
Types of punishment
Before purchasing this equipment, many car owners think about its legality. Back in 2012, the State Duma approved a whole article banning the use of equipment capable of blocking the work of official speed control devices. In Russia, for using the anti-radar, the car owner faces a fine of 500 to 1,500 rubles and the seizure of illegal equipment. If the use of a radar detector is qualified as counteraction to law enforcement agencies in the performance of official duties, then this may entail more serious consequences. Anti-radar detectors in Russia are not allowed for use, but they are not prohibited by law either, which gives rise to a large number of discussions on this topic.
In the EU countries, this is much stricter. For the first time, they also write out a fine and take away the radar detector, in subsequent times the car enthusiast is deprived of his driver's license. In some cases, the offender faces criminal liability.
If you look at the sites of motorists, you can find entire forums devoted to disputes about the legality of using radar detectors. Many people share their "sad" experience of use and advise not to risk their driver's license, to drive according to the rules. But there are also those who disagree with this prohibition, believing that there are situations that allow significantly exceeding the speed and, accordingly, breaking the law, creating an emergency situation on the road, risking their lives.
