There is hardly a driver who would not be faced with the problem of fogging windows in a car. As it may seem at first glance, there is nothing terrible in this, but certainly not pleasant. In a matter of minutes, visibility disappears, and with it safety and comfort.
Causes
You can fight this problem, but you need to know what this phenomenon is actually connected with. There are several reasons for this, but they are united by one whole - fogging occurs due to the formation of condensation on the inside of the auto glass.
First reason
Condensation occurs due to temperature differences outside and in the passenger compartment. When warm and humid interior air comes into contact with cold glass, it is converted into microscopic particles of water, which create a foggy effect by refracting sunlight.
The second reason
One of the main causes of fogging is the interior itself, or rather, the humidity in the interior. It can be wet seats, wet foot mats, interior upholstery. When the stove is running, the moisture in the cabin gradually evaporates, after which the dry and warm air turns into humid air, which forms condensation.
Third reason
Alcohol can also be to blame. After a person has consumed alcohol, the concentration of alcohol in the exhaled air increases significantly. Alcohol itself is a good absorbent, so it absorbs water well. The vapors of the exhaled alcohol are highly saturated with moisture and therefore the glasses fog up in a matter of seconds.
Climate control
Happy owners of cars with this function do not know what misted windows are. But if the process takes place, it is worth checking if the drain hole is clogged. If this is the case, then by cleaning it, you can quickly get rid of the problem.
Warm air
For drivers who do not have climate control, there is another option to fix the problem. It is necessary to correctly direct the flow of warm air from the deflectors to the misted glass, and they will sweat over time. It is necessary to monitor the correct air circulation in the passenger compartment and clean the blockages in the ventilation ducts in time.
Rear glass
It usually isn't a problem, but in most cars it is heated at the push of a button. If this function is inoperative, you can try to equalize the temperature difference between the interior and the street. But in the fall or winter, hardly anyone wants to do this.
Some useful rules
Driving in a state of alcoholic intoxication is not worth talking about, but tipsy passengers, in order to avoid fogging the windows, should be seated in the rear seats.
Always shake off snow from clothes and shoes before getting into a car.
Rubber foot mats are worth using as they are not able to absorb water.
An aerosol or liquid anti-fog agent is available at your auto shop. On glasses, it forms a thin film that prevents moisture from collecting.
