Step 1
Find out the maximum allowed wheel offset that can be used on your vehicle. Usually, the manufacturer calculates the design so that it is possible to install discs with both larger and smaller overhangs. This will slightly change the wheel track. That is, you just need to buy discs with a long offset that will fit your car model. Such a change will not entail any negative consequences, on the contrary, the dynamics of the car will improve significantly. but before sharp turns on an extended track, it is better to slow down.
Step 2
The easiest way to significantly increase the wheel track is to install spacers. These are special elements that are installed on the hub, thereby pushing the wheels to the side. Now on the shelves of car stores you can find a large number of different types of spacers for absolutely any car model. You will also need to purchase new longer bolts.
Step 3
Install new brakes. As the wheelbase increases, the braking load increases. The standard vehicle system will not be able to cope with it. Therefore, it is necessary to install a more modern braking system. It is better to install ventilated disc brakes on the rear wheels, and drum brakes on the front wheels.
Step 4
If the car is preparing to compete in any motorsport competition, then long offset discs and wheel spacers will not give the desired effect. In this case, you will have to remove the beam, cut it and weld on a new part. The insert must be of the same material as the beam itself. In combination with this measure, you need to install larger diameter discs and reinforced brakes. You will also have to replace the levers and springs and adjust the angles of the suspension parts.
