A car is a complex technical device that allows people to move quickly and comfortably. Internally, the design of any machine can be compared to the structure of the human body. Just like a person, there are "organs" under the hood of a car, united into a single system, thanks to which the car can drive.
In the engine compartment of any car, the main units and systems are located, which ensure the operation of the entire "body" of the car.
The lever that opens the hood of most cars, as a rule, is located in the passenger compartment, in the area of the steering wheel. Other methods of opening are very rare.
Car engine
The engine is the heart of the car; without it, you cannot get the car in motion. This important unit is used to convert energy into mechanical work for driving. The most common type of automotive engine is a carburetor or injection piston internal combustion engine that can use a variety of automotive fuels. Carburetor engines can now only be found on older car models. In addition to the piston engine, some car manufacturers use rotary piston motors and electric motors. Electric motors are more commonly used in conjunction with combustion engines in hybrid vehicles.
The internal structure of the engine is quite complicated, and in case of a breakdown, special knowledge and skills are required to repair it. All the general user can do is check the level, add oil, and replace the spark plugs. Therefore, under the hood, the engine is usually covered with a plastic panel, but nevertheless, free access to the oil filler neck, dipstick and spark plugs is always provided.
There are cases when under the hood of cars found: snakes, cats, dogs, small rodents and even people-illegal immigrants.
Ventilation and cooling system
During the operation of the engine, all its parts are exposed to high temperatures and, accordingly, require cooling, without which the normal functioning of the engine is impossible. The engine cooling system is of great importance and must always function properly. There are two main types of cooling systems: air and liquid. The air system is now found in modern car models very rarely, the main system is a liquid type of cooling. The main organs of the cooling system are: engine water jacket, radiator, pump, thermostat, expansion tank, stove radiator and connection elements.
Of all the listed system elements under the hood, any motorist sees a radiator, an expansion tank, into which coolant is added and connecting pipes. The rest of the elements are hidden in the depths of the engine, but if you want to get to them will not be difficult.
Power supply system
The car's power supply system consists of several components, the proper functioning of which guarantees easy engine start, the operation of all electrical and light devices. The main electrical equipment included in the system is a battery, a generator and electrical wiring that connects all current consumers to sources.
Under the hood, from the entire system, a rechargeable battery is immediately thrown into the eye, which is installed in a special compartment. The battery is easily accessible as it needs maintenance and periodic replacement. The alternator is usually attached to the engine body and is not immediately visible and can be clearly seen when changing the belt.
Ignition system
The main elements of the system are spark plugs, ignition lock, high-voltage wires, distributor, control unit, switch. In addition to the ignition lock, all elements are located under the hood, wires and candles very often need to be replaced, so they are as accessible as possible for various manipulations.
Also, under the hood of the car, you can find blocks of sensors and fuses of various systems, a glass and headlight washer reservoir, reservoirs for adding brake fluid and oil to the power steering, fuel, air, oil filters and a plate with VIN numbers.
