The harsh winter, of course, gives motorists a lot of trouble, and one of them is starting a cold engine in the morning while rushing to work. Basically, people who do not have a garage suffer from this, since a car that has been "in the open air" for a long time is not so easy to start as it might seem at first glance. However, you can cope with this problem, just use a few simple tips.
Instructions
Step 1
Changing the engine oil will help to facilitate starting the engine in low temperatures. Buy synthetic winter oil, which is not very thick and therefore does not impede the movement of the crankshaft. However, if you are the owner of a domestic car, changing the oil will not be effective and, on the contrary, may cause a small problem. Due to the liquid consistency, the oil will flow out through poor-quality or worn-out oil seals. In this case, it is recommended to fill in semi-synthetic engine oil.
Step 2
The location of the vehicle plays a very important role when starting the engine. That is why, if you have such an opportunity, put your car in a garage, hangar or in a closed parking lot. The temperature there is several degrees warmer than outside and, accordingly, the car in such conditions will start faster.
Step 3
Another way to speed up engine starting is to install heating devices. This procedure is not cheap, however, it is quite effective in such situations. The most common installation of a coolant heater. Cut it into a pipe with antifreeze or antifreeze. It quickly heats up the fluid, which has the same effect on a cold engine. As a result, the car starts up literally from half a turn.
Step 4
As you know, you cannot start a car without a battery, so check its condition and clean the terminals, if necessary. Bring the battery to a warm room at night, it gives more energy when warmed up. If you see that the battery is weak and cannot provide rotation of the crankshaft, recharge it a little. If possible, you can replace the old battery with a more capacious, suitable size. The use of such a battery does not entail any negative consequences, the only thing is that the operation of the generator and the brush-collector unit of the starter can become a little more intense.
Step 5
Also check the condition of the spark plugs. Their wear can make it difficult to start the engine. A mixture rich in fuel is fed into the cylinders, which in turn can negatively affect the formation of a spark.
