Step 1

There are three categories of such lamps - long and short arc lamps, and the third group is xenon flash lamps. The design of the lamp is quite simple. It consists of a flask made of quartz or ordinary glass with tungsten electrodes soldered at both ends. After a vacuum is created inside, the space is filled with xenon. The flash lamp has an additional third electrode around the bulb.

It is not the first year that xenon lamps have been used in the headlights of some car brands. The advantages of such lamps are efficiency, durability and reliability. However, when replacing halogen lamps with xenon, in order not to dazzle the drivers of oncoming cars, you will have to completely replace the headlights. Before starting work, you need to study the instructions in detail. After removing the lamp to be replaced, it is necessary to drill a small hole with a diameter of about 25 mm in the protective cover and pull the wire through it to the ignition unit.

For safety, a waterproof rubber band is installed in the hole. Before installing the lamp in the socket and fixing it, it must be wiped with alcohol.

Step 4

Then the "+" clip is connected to the battery, the engine starts and the headlights are turned on. It remains to check the performance of the lighting system and the compliance of the parameters with those indicated on the packaging, and then adjust the headlights. The allowable difference should correspond to +/- 500K.

Step 5

To check the lamps for the amount of electricity consumed, it is enough to look at their technical characteristics. For a halogen lamp, the energy consumption is 55 watts, and for a xenon lamp, 35 watts. Xenon bulbs significantly outperform halogen bulbs in terms of durability. A xenon lamp can last up to 3000 hours, while a halogen lamp can last for about 400 hours.

Step 6

Xenon lamps are the most reliable during operation, but there are also certain disadvantages. It takes some time for the xenon lamp to turn on. The presence of xenon lighting is another reason to find fault with you employees of the road-checkpoint service and the state service of automobile inspection. It should be noted that xenon lamps are also more expensive than halogen lamps.
