Xenon lamps are high intensity gas discharge lamps. They have long been on the list of the most sold-out electrical equipment used additionally for car tuning. Is it possible to check the quality of such a lamp?

Instructions

Step 1

When buying a car with xenon bulbs, make sure of the quality. Approach the selected car and take a close look at the headlights. Of course, Zhiguli cannot have factory xenon headlights, since they were not originally planned for such models. If the owner of the car being sold convinces you that his model is equipped with real xenon, do not believe it.

Step 2

Take a closer look at a foreign car. If the model is new, then xenon headlights must necessarily be with washers, because when the glass is dirty, they significantly lose their effectiveness. They are also equipped with an automatic corrector, which itself adjusts the height of the illumination beam, depending on the load of the car. To check for its presence, swing the car or watch how the car behaves when starting. According to the new standards, the mandatory presence of an automatic corrector is excluded, but its presence confirms the factory setting of xenon.

Step 3

If there is no headlamp washer and automatic headlight range control, check that the headlamp and lamp match. It is imperative that when installing a xenon lamp, there must be an appropriate headlight. This is confirmed by a special marking. Inspect all of the headlamp glass carefully. If you did not see signs corresponding to the xenon designation on it, then carefully examine the headlight housing, after opening the hood. The first letter D on the marking indicates that this is a headlight for a xenon lamp. If you see the letter H, it means that the headlight is made for a halogen lamp, and you cannot use it for xenon.

Step 4

To check the performance of the xenon lamp, temporarily move the ignition unit from the serviceable one to the one that has gone out. If the headlight comes on again, then everything is in order with it, and the ignition unit is faulty. If it does not light up, then you will have to purchase a new one.
