Diagnostics of the ignition module of engines with modern electronic injection can be carried out quite simply and quickly if you have at least a little knowledge of basic concepts in electrical engineering and have the skills to read the lightest electrical diagrams. This device is responsible for all the basics of engine operation, and if the ignition malfunctions, you are unlikely to go anywhere for a long time.
Instructions
Step 1
Before starting diagnostics of the ignition module at the engine control system, you must make sure that the other systems of the car are in good working order. After you are sure of the ignition malfunction, you need to remove the installation of the ignition module itself and check the condition of its main elements.
Step 2
When working with the ignition module, it is necessary to smoothly disconnect the negative terminal of the wire from the battery, having previously made a marking on it, and then disconnect the wiring from the common coil mechanism.
Step 3
Then you need to unscrew all the mounting bolts and screws, thereby removing the housing of the ignition module.
Step 4
Then, with the car engine off, disconnect the entire assembly of the ignition module and measure with a device the resistance between the main terminals of its connector. After that, you need to compare the results of your measurements with the general requirements in the specification.
Step 5
If a sharp decrease in performance is noticed in your car, then this indicates that your device has problems associated with a short circuit. Once you establish the continuity of the wires, you can proceed to check the secondary circuit of the engine and already measure the resistance between the external ignition terminals.
Step 6
Based on the measurement results, it is necessary to draw a conclusion about the state of the insulation in the system, and if a malfunction is found in the coil, then its mechanism must be replaced.
Step 7
After all the operations for adjusting the ignition module are completed, you need to install in the reverse order, starting from the mounting bolts and ending with tightening the screws on the ignition housing.
Step 8
The most important thing is to ensure that the entire wiring circuit is connected correctly, because a connection error immediately leads to malfunctions in the ignition module.
