The interior of even the oldest car can sparkle with new colors if it is fitted anew. A very practical and elegant material for the upholstery of the interior is leather, with the help of which you can change the appearance not only of the back sofa and armchairs, but of the entire interior of the car as a whole.

Instructions

Step 1

Start with the car interior panels. Calculate and apply a certain amount of leather material to the dashboard and dashboard. Please note that the skin must be soaked in warm, but not hot water for a period of no more than 2-3 hours before trying on.

Step 2

Start pre-fitting the material with an assistant. The evidence that the leather has correctly “sat down” on the interior element is the absence of folds and other defects. While your assistant smoothes the surface to achieve a uniform density, use a hair dryer to dry your skin. Then remove it from the interior parts and let dry. It should be noted that even artificial leather “remembers” the shape quite well.

Step 3

Apply glue to the surfaces and interior of the leather trim. With the help of an assistant, begin to tighten the solid elements of the car's interior. The skin needs to be stretched, so you need to work with a hairdryer again, heating the material and thus making it easier to stretch it.

Step 4

After gluing the leather in several steps, leave it to dry. Make sure that there are no distortions or nicks on the surface of the already dried material. The vehicle interior must not be exposed to direct sunlight. Contrasting temperatures in the process of covering the interior with leather are generally highly undesirable.

Step 5

Prepare the front seats and the rear sofa of the car for the hauling. If there is no pre-made pattern, take paper and a centimeter. After removing the old covers, measure and trace the seats so that you can use the resulting drawing as a pattern.

Step 6

After the basic pattern, go in for the details, cutting them out of the leather to exactly fit the seats. If there is an opportunity or desire to give a special individual look to the seat covers, it is better to do this last, after all the elements of the car interior are ready.
