It is necessary

  • - leather;
  • - leatherette;
  • - sewing machine;
  • - a needle on the skin;
  • - hairdryer;
  • - marker;
  • - scissors.

Instructions

Step 1

Choose the right leather for the job. The best option is made specifically for cars, it is not afraid of friction, temperature changes and other tests. To reduce the overall cost of materials, cover the work surfaces with genuine leather or Alcantara, and the sides and back surfaces with leatherette or leatherette.

Step 2

Dismantle the seats, remove the interfering plastic from them. Carefully remove the old upholstery, while cutting the metal rings with powerful nippers. Mark where what parts were located so as not to be mistaken in the future.

Step 3

Pull apart all the details of the covers and gently iron the opened parts with an iron. Attach the details to the paper and make patterns, repeating every nuance, right down to the overlapping notches around the perimeter.

Step 4

If you have some experience with this kind of work, try changing the shape of the chair by adding foam inserts, installing armrests. At the same time, carefully consider how the shape of the pattern details will change. At the same time, it is better to practice on a regular fabric so as not to spoil expensive leather.

Step 5

Cut out the details of the pattern on pieces of leather and sew the covers along the notches. To do this, you need a powerful enough sewing machine and special leather needles (triangular section). Use the matching strong thread with lavsan and fine needle pitch.

Step 6

When the parts are ready, try transferring the decals to them (try on unnecessary scraps first). To emboss the skin, prepare the matrix, heat it and press it against the skin with maximum force.

Step 7

Soak the finished covers in warm water so that they stretch a little. Pull the leather upholstery over the seats, using plastic cable ties instead of metal rings.

Step 8

If the cover does not stretch, heat it in this place with a hairdryer, the skin will stretch a little. Then dry the covers - you will see that they will fit snugly around the seats.
