In a car engine, all systems must work properly. This is especially true for fuel and gas distribution. The first is responsible for a properly prepared combustible mixture, the second removes exhaust gases from the combustion chamber. The main element of this system is the drive belt or timing belt, which synchronizes the operation of the crankshaft with the camshafts. The efficient operation of the vehicle depends on its correct installation.
Instructions
Step 1
Pry off the rubber plug of the front timing belt cover (timing belt) with a screwdriver so that the condition of the timing belt can be assessed. Remove it and inspect it. The timing belt should not have peeling of the court's nylon threads and uneven wear of rubber cracks. The average period for replacing the timing belt with the working mechanisms of the internal combustion engine for a 16-valve engine is about 40,000 km. If there are visible violations or kilometers traveled, then it should be replaced.
Step 2
Remove the alternator belt. Using a 10 socket head, unscrew the 6 bolts securing the front cover. Remove the timing belt cover.
Step 3
Remove the right front wheel, the plastic protection of the engine compartment. Turn the crankshaft clockwise with a socket head 17 for the bolt securing the alternator drive pulley. Align the marks on the camshaft pulleys with the marks on the rear cover. The risk on the flywheel of the internal combustion engine must be against the slot in the clutch housing cover. Those. all marks on the cogwheels should point upwards, at the highest point. Lock the flywheel. To do this, insert a screwdriver through the hole in the clutch housing between its teeth. Remove the bolt that secures the alternator drive pulley and remove the pulley.
Step 4
Loosen the belt tension roller nut with a 17 wrench. Turn it to loosen the belt tension and remove the rear part from the exhaust camshaft toothed pulley, idler pulley and coolant pump pulley.
Step 5
Remove the belt from the crankshaft and exhaust camshaft toothed pulleys and support roller. Install the belt in reverse order. Make sure the alignment marks on the crankshaft and camshafts. Slide the toothed belt onto the crankshaft pulley. When tensioning both branches of the belt, wind the front one over the support roller, and the rear one, while putting it on the coolant pump pulley - over the tension roller. Slide the belt over the camshaft pulleys. Rotate the idler pulley and tension the belt, then secure the pulley. Turn the crankshaft, check the alignment of the installation marks. Check the tension of the toothed belt between the camshaft pulleys in the middle. The deflection should be within 5.4 ± 0.2 mm under load.
