Can I use Russian rights in another country? From the point of view of the law, a driver's license of the Russian Federation is invalid abroad. And in the case of driving a car with such rights when dealing with foreign police, serious consequences cannot be avoided. Therefore, if you are going abroad and plan to drive a car there, you need to obtain a personal international driver's license (IDP).
Instructions
Step 1
An international driver's license (license) is an additional document to the driving license of the Russian Federation. This is a kind of translation of Russian rights into a foreign language, which explains what type of cars you have the right to drive. The IDP is issued for various periods: 1, 2, 3 years or 10 years. But their validity period cannot be longer than the validity period of the RF driver's license.
Step 2
You do not need to undergo a medical examination. Mastery tests for knowledge of traffic rules or driving are also not passed. The IDP is issued solely on the basis of a certificate of the home country. In it, in international languages approved by the UN, all information about the driver and permitted vehicles is indicated.
Step 3
So that in a driving school, a medical certificate from the commission that you passed when you received a Russian driver's license and its photocopy, a photo 3, 5x4, 5 (for an international driver's license) on a single-color background (as for a passport). Fill out an application in the established form for obtaining an IDP.
Step 4
It takes one day to make an IDP and receive it. A document is issued at the traffic police department on a general basis.
Step 5
Having an international driving license does not relieve you of liability for non-compliance with traffic rules in a particular country. Remember that an IDP does not replace a driver's license on the territory of the Russian Federation. They can only be used abroad and must be accompanied by a national driving license.
