Owners of snowmobiles, while tuning the engine, unlike owners of cars and motorcycles, cannot check the engine power on a dynamometer due to the atypical design of the snowmobile tracks. In this situation, it remains only to carry out tests in "road" conditions in order to be able to make the necessary adjustments and change the settings based on the obtained parameters.
Instructions
Step 1
Install an optional fuel controller to adjust the flow of fuel to the engine if necessary. Connect a controller between the electronic control unit of the snowmobile and the injectors to be able to change the signal going to them. In addition, connect several wires to the break of the terminals to install the signal recorder.
Step 2
Connect an exhaust gas composition sensor to the muffler, which measures the composition of the mixture while driving. To write signals to Flash memory, equip all installed sensors with recorders. Check the operation of the sensors on the laptop: the screen should display parameters such as temperature and engine speed, throttle position, intake manifold pressure, exhaust gas composition and injection pulse duration.
Step 3
Take multiple rides with the snowmobile using different modes and engine loads. In this case, the recorder connected to the snowmobile, making measurements several times per second, will record all the parameters of the engine operation in various conditions: during acceleration, on the rise, on the descent. In real-world driving conditions, you will get more accurate data than in a dynamometer test, since characteristics such as humidity, temperature, air flow and others will be taken into account.
Step 4
Analyze the resulting table of the composition of the mixture depending on the load and engine speed, in which cells of different colors will indicate the lean, normal and rich mixture. Using this data, calculate a correction table and download it to the fuel controller. Set up the accelerator pump, disconnect excess wires and securely fasten the fuel controller under the hood.
