The speedometer is an important part of the car. Your safety depends on its correct operation. Moreover, an error in the readings can lead to fines for speeding. To prevent this from happening, you must be able to properly regulate this device.

Necessary

  • - thin marker;
  • - small tweezers or thin scissors.

Instructions

Step 1

Determine which of the two types your car's speedometer belongs to by moving the needle beyond 220 km / h. If this division of the scale limits the further movement of the pointer, then the device is with a stop. Use a fine marker to adjust this speedometer. Lock the arrow in the end position and make a mark on the instrument panel next to the scale.

Step 2

Carefully remove the arrow, release the lock and rotate the shaft a full turn. Lightly insert the pointer loosely and rotate it easily. Click on the arrow and firmly fix it in its place at the moment when it makes an incomplete turn and reaches the mark made by the marker.

Step 3

Turn the speedometer pointer until it stops and check if it matches the mark. In case of error, repeat these steps. When the desired result is achieved, insert the retainer and release the arrow.

Step 4

In a speedometer without a stop, the pointer passes the 220 km / h mark on the scale and moves further or falls down. To adjust such a device, move its arrow to the 140 km / h mark. Carefully lift the scale sticker from the side of the retainer. Use small tweezers or thin scissors and lightly squeeze the latch.

Step 5

Remove the retainer and move the speedometer arrow to the "0" position; it should drop below the latch hole. Make a mark in front of this place with a marker, applying it to the dashboard near the scale. Remove the gauge pointer and release the lock. Turn the shaft to a full turn and adjust it.

Step 6

Insert the arrow slightly and turn the shaft slowly. When the speedometer pointer coincides with the mark, press on it and fix it. Make sure the readings are plausible. Pull the arrow in one direction and release it sharply. If it does not match the mark on the scale, repeat the procedure. When you have achieved the desired result, move the pointer to the up position, lock the latch and release the arrow.
