If a weakening of the installation of the valve seat is found, the presence of cracks or noticeable burns on it, then it must be replaced. The valve seat is removed either in parts, after it has been intentionally destroyed, or by milling on a machine.
Instructions
Step 1
A rough, or simple, way to remove a worn valve seat is as follows. Weld the old valve to the worn valve seat. Knock out the worn seat by hitting the valve stem. Remove the remnants of the seat from the seat, clean the place for the installation of a new part. This method is suitable for replacing the valve seat in a garage on your own. But as a result of such actions, the cylinder head may be damaged or deformed.
Step 2
The “humane” method involves cutting out the worn out valve seat on a milling machine. The milling head is then centered on the valve guide sleeve. The saddle seat can be machined to the desired size for a new one. After boring is complete, carefully remove the chips from the machining area with a cutting tool using a special flushing unit.
Step 3
Then install the new valve seats. It can be produced at different temperatures. There are several different ways to mount the valve seat rings in the cylinder head. Press the valve seat into its original place on the cylinder head at room temperature. This method is not very reliable, since it may deform the cylinder head.
Step 4
Preheat the cylinder head, then press in the valve seat, which should be at room temperature. This method is also not always suitable, because it can lead to deformation.
Step 5
Cool the seat ring in liquid nitrogen, then install at room temperature in the cylinder head. Warm up the cylinder head, cool the seat ring, install it in its original place. The latter option will be the most optimal for assembly, because it does not require almost any effort, and the work will be done with high quality.
