Self-repair of a carburetor with its complete disassembly, cleaning, washing and blowing with compressed air is a very painstaking work that requires accuracy, care and patience. This work does not require the use of specialized equipment and special tools. Use a tire pump as a blowdown compressor.

Instructions

Step 1

Unscrew the solenoid valve. Remove the fuel jet from its body. After unscrewing all the screws securing the carburetor cover, remove the cover. Use a thin screwdriver or wire to push out and remove the axes of the floats and the floats themselves. Carefully remove the carburetor cover gasket. If it is damaged, replace the gasket with a new one. If there are intermittent contact marks with sealing surfaces indicate replace the carburetor cover.

Step 2

Remove the fuel valve and replace the O-ring on it. Check the free movement of the fuel valve in the seat and the absence of too much lateral play of the fuel valve needle. The damping ball, when pressed with a finger, should be easily recessed and clearly return back. The fuel valve is non-separable: if faulty, replace it. After unscrewing all the screws securing the starter cover, remove this cover along with the diaphragm. Next, carefully separate the diaphragm and the trigger cover and remove the diaphragm spring. Unscrew and remove the fuel filter plug together with the filter.

Step 3

To remove the choke drive lever from the carburetor, carefully unscrew its axle, remove the locking ball with a spring from under the lever, then remove the lever. Use a screwdriver to remove the accelerator pump nozzles from the carburetor. After unscrewing the screws securing the accelerator pump cover, remove this cover. Remove the diaphragm and accelerator pump spring. Remove the power economizer cover screws and remove the plastic plug and the fuel mixture adjusting screw. A corkscrew can be used to remove the plug. Regardless of the condition of this plug, it should be replaced with a new one.

Step 4

Unscrew and remove the emulsion tubes from the carburetor. The main fuel jets can be structurally integrated with the emulsion tubes or installed in their wells. Remove pipes and nozzles, flush with petrol or acetone, and blow with compressed air. Remove hard deposits inside the jets with a sharp wooden stick. To remove the wire from the fuel mixture adjustment screw sensor, unscrew the screw that secures it. Remove the adjusting screw.

Step 5

Wash the fuel filter of the carburetor with gasoline or acetone, blow with compressed air. If there is damage to the filter mesh or the inability to blow through it, replace the filter. Replace floats and gasket if they are damaged in any way. Finding traces of contact of the floats on the walls of the carburetor body, adjust the brackets of the floats. Set the floats themselves according to the template. Please note: incorrect installation of floats will interfere with carburetor operation.

Step 6

Flush and blow out with compressed air all channels and openings on the carburetor cover. Replace worn, broken or cracked parts of the starter with new ones. Clean the idle fuel jet with a thin copper wire and blow with compressed air. Clean all other carburetor jets in the same way. The diameter of the wire must be substantially less than the diameter of the jet. Otherwise, the calibration of the jet will be out of order.

Step 7

To test the solenoid valve, connect the positive wire from the battery to the corresponding terminal of the valve, and the negative wire to the valve body. On a serviceable valve, the needle should sink into the body. Replace the defective solenoid valve with a new one. Replace worn, damaged and broken parts of the accelerator pump and power mode economizer with new ones. Also replace the parts of the accelerator pump cover, economizer and carburetor housing with damaged surfaces. Blow out with compressed air the nozzle hole of the accelerator pump, the accelerator pump nozzles on both sides of the carburetor, the holes for the adjusting screws

Step 8

Carry out the assembly of the carburetor in the reverse order of disassembly. Pay attention to the freedom of movement of the floats in the carburetor float chamber. If necessary, adjust the position of the floats. Pay attention to the freedom of movement of the solenoid valve needle, at the moment of tightening the valve seat, the valve itself, setting the nozzles in accordance with the marking.
