A heating system in a car is a must. In summer it is used as ventilation, in winter for heating the passenger compartment. In new cars, problems with it, as a rule, do not arise. But if your vehicle is already many years old, and its mileage is large enough, it is quite possible that the heater malfunctions and even breaks down.

Necessary

  • - ordinary screwdriver;
  • - Phillips screwdriver;
  • - socket wrenches;
  • - open-end keys;
  • - rubber gaskets;
  • - silicone sealant;
  • - coolant.

Instructions

Step 1

The cause of a stove malfunction may be a rusted radiator, a faulty tap or a heater pipe. In this case, water or antifreeze appears under the feet of the driver or front passenger. The tap or pipe can be easily replaced without even removing the cover. If you wish, you can try to solder the copper radiator. Aluminum cannot be repaired. In this case, a new radiator must be installed. If a malfunction of the heater valve is excluded, the reason may be a violation of the circulation of the coolant due to a narrowing of the clearance in the radiator tubes or an inoperative thermostat valve.

Step 2

Remove the radiator shroud to remedy a malfunction due to poor circulation. To do this, drain the coolant from the engine block. In the engine compartment, disconnect the clamps on the radiator pipes and pull off the hoses. Unscrew the fasteners and remove the rubber seal. In the passenger compartment, dismantle the radio panel. Disconnect the crane cable attachment. Remove the cable. Find the spring clips on the fan casing, disconnect. Move the cover to the side and remove the radiator.

Step 3

Inspect the radiator, metal pipes and stove faucet. Replace if corroded or leaking. If the old radiator is in good condition, flush it. First, carefully clean the debris and rinse the outside. Then from the inside - first with a stream of water, then with gasoline and solvent. Remove limescale. To do this, dilute food citric acid with water. Pour into radiator for 2 hours. Drain the citric acid solution, flush the radiator.

Step 4

Lubricate the gaskets with silicone sealant. Screw the drain pipe and the tap to the radiator. Now put everything in the reverse order. Pour antifreeze. Start the car, check the tightness of all connections.
