Six-blade heater radiator fans with a plastic impeller are installed on GAZ vehicles. In the event of any malfunction, the hot air flow is stopped or significantly reduced. Home conditions and a standard set of tools are enough to repair this device.

It is necessary

  • - screwdrivers with flat and cross-shaped blades;
  • - a set of open-end and spanner wrenches;
  • - knife, pliers

Instructions

Step 1

If the fan does not work, first of all, check the wiring for the integrity of the wires, the tightness of their tips. Remove oxidation from the terminals. If you find a wire breakage or damage, replace it, crimp the loose terminal.

Step 2

Next, check the fan motor. Typical malfunctions of this unit can be: wear or hanging of brushes, breakage of the armature winding, oxidation or wear of the collector. Repair methods: clean the collector from oxidation or replace the electric motor completely. Check the heater switch and replace the faulty one.

Step 3

If the fan refuses to work at low speeds, check the additional resistor, the wires coming from it and the lugs of these wires. Replace the burned-out resistor, crimp the loose terminals, replace the faulty wires, strip their tips. Also check the heater switch for serviceability and replace it if necessary.

Step 4

If the fan is spinning too slowly, check its motor and motor fuse. Clean the contaminated or oxidized collector, and in case of an interturn short circuit of the armature winding or a jam of the armature shaft in the bearings, replace the electric motor assembly.

Step 5

The reason for the increased noise during fan operation may be the wedging of the electric motor rotor. Remove the electric fan and make sure that the fastening brackets of its flange are not displaced and do not touch the rotor. Turn the rotor by hand and make sure it turns freely. If the shaft rotates stuck or does not rotate at all, the motor needs to be replaced.

Step 6

To remove the electric fan, open the cover of the glove compartment on the dashboard, unscrew the 4 fastening screws and remove the glove compartment with the cover from the installation slot. Then unscrew the two screws securing the fan cover and remove it from the fuser body. Disconnect the wiring harness from the electric motor, remove the wiring seal and remove the fan from the stove body.
