If your company often requires the services of a truck crane, it is worth considering purchasing one, since frequent leasing may be simply unprofitable. When buying new equipment, problems, as a rule, do not arise, but in order not to be mistaken when buying a used truck crane, you need to know some subtleties.

Instructions

Step 1

Be sure to ask the seller to demonstrate how the crane works. If the seller starts to play around and give arguments that "fuel is wasted", think about what else the owners of the truck crane saved on.

Step 2

Evaluate the paint quality of the crane. Of course, the main thing is for it to work, but a too shabby look may indicate that it was intensively exploited, and not very carefully. If the faucet is freshly painted, it is also worth considering whether the paint hides through cracks, holes and sinks. The best option is a well-preserved factory paint.

Step 3

Do not trust the readings of the mileage and engine hours counter (if any). By simple manipulations, the readings of these devices are brought to the state that suits the seller.

Step 4

Better pay attention to the condition of the pedals, levers, buttons, seat. It is not wear and tear that is important here, but "tuning" - the presence of non-standard stands, linings, lanterns testifies to a good caring owner, who probably passed all the technical inspections on time and repaired all the faults.

Step 5

Before you buy a truck crane, be sure to jack it up and inspect the frame, mainly the welding seams. You can even rub them with a metal brush, see if there are any cracks.

Step 6

Inspect the turntable: the bearing should be free of welding marks and there should be no abnormal noise during rotation. Check the condition of all brakes - manual, automatic (overrun) and transport lock, as well as the brake fluid. Assess the condition of the cylinders and rods, hydraulic hoses.

Step 7

Make sure the crane is level and the legs are fully extended, and place the boom horizontally. Examine the boom, it should not have cracks, distortions and traces of cooking (on large cranes, inspect the boom in sections).

Step 8

Check if the cables and hoses of the controlled jib are reeled up correctly, in what condition the chain hoists are. Inspect the pulleys and see if they turn easily.

Step 9

Inspect the engine and check its operation. Assess the condition of the hydromechanical transmission, parking brake and other important points. If everything is in order, feel free to buy a used truck crane.
