Transport tax is included in the number of mandatory payments to the budget for all car owners, except for those who own agricultural machinery. Every time it is time to pay tax, many owners have quite a few questions in this regard. One of the main ones is how exactly such a payment to the budget is calculated.
Transport tax is usually calculated based on the power of the vehicle, i.e. simply put, it is calculated in horsepower. And this is where you need to take up a pencil or pen.
How much is a "horse"
The cost of one horsepower directly depends on the amount of these same forces in the car. The more powerful the car, the more expensive the "horse".
So, for example, for small machines with engines from 70 to 100 hp. the cost of 1 "horse" will be equal to 2, 5 p. Owners of cars with a 100-150 hp motor. will have to pay 3, 5 p. for every. Those who have a car over 150 and up to 200 hp will have to fork out for 5 rubles. for each "horse". Accordingly, the owners of very powerful units from 200 to 250 hp and above will have to pay from 7, 5 to 15 rubles. for the "horse".
It should be borne in mind that these are basic tariffs that can be regulated by regions. For example, the Ivanovo region will add a couple of rubles to each tariff. The only limitation is that the increase cannot be increased more than 10 times.
Owners of very tiny cars, whose engine power does not even reach 70 "horses", are invited to pay a fixed cost of the transport tax, which is about 350 rubles.
In Moscow, the city government has developed a program to support motorists in small cars. Within its framework, laws were passed abolishing the tax for such "babies".
It should be borne in mind that benefits for the payment of such a tax are not spelled out in the Tax Code of the Russian Federation. However, there are no restrictions on the fact that each region can make such a decision on its own.
What to consider in connection with tax legislation
The payment of transport tax is now monitored by tax inspectorates, whereas earlier this was done by traffic police officers. However, with the high growth of corruption, including in this area, these functions were taken away from the guards.
Moreover, the tax authorities do not care whether you operate the car, or if it is idle under your house - the bill will come anyway. If your car is stolen, or it got into an accident and cannot be restored, be sure to take all relevant documents, including certificates from the traffic police and other departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, to the tax office. Otherwise, you will receive letters with receipts and a demand to pay tax. The same applies to those who have sold or given their car by proxy to another person.
It is also worth remembering that the tax must be paid on time, because for delays, you will be charged a fine and interest in the amount of 1/130 of the refinancing rate.
