Today, no car owner can do without concluding a compulsory car insurance contract for OSAGO. It insures the driver and passengers against situations in which damage to the health of people and the vehicle is caused. Drivers should remember that Russian law provides for certain fines for driving without insurance.

Fines for driving without insurance can reach 800 rubles

It is necessary to issue an OSAGO policy, according to the current legislation of the Russian Federation, within five days from the date of purchase of the car. Neglect of these requirements and further use of the vehicle without issuing a compulsory insurance policy provides for the imposition of a fine on the driver and more serious sanctions, up to a ban on the operation of the vehicle.

Penalty for driving without insurance

In accordance with article 12.3 of the Administrative Code, drivers who do not have an insurance policy with them (but at the same time it was issued in the proper manner and is simply not in the car), a fine of 500 rubles is imposed.

Penalty for a driver not included in the insurance

Traffic police officers periodically encounter a situation when a driver who is not included in the OSAGO policy is driving an inspected car. For example, this comes across drivers who had to urgently use someone else's car. The fine for a driver who is not included in the insurance will be 500 rubles (article 12.37 of the Administrative Code). In this case, the license plates of the car are withdrawn until the fine is paid and the reason for its imposition is eliminated: the driver must necessarily enter himself into the current CTP policy.

The same preventive measures, in accordance with Article 12.37 of the Administrative Code, are applied to drivers who drive a vehicle during the period not covered by the OSAGO insurance policy - a fine of 500 rubles and a temporary ban on the use of the car. In this case, the violators are often those who like summer trips, who, for example, have a desire or need to use a car in the winter, which is not included in the insurance contract.

Penalty for overdue insurance and default on auto insurance obligations

Expired insurance or its absence is already a more serious offense. If a car enthusiast forgets to renew the OSAGO on time or is not even in a hurry to re-register due to the lack of the required amount of money and unwillingness to burden himself with additional obligations, certain sanctions are imposed on him. The penalty for overdue insurance, in accordance with article 12.37 of the Administrative Code, is 800 rubles.

Thus, you should not wait for claims from the traffic police and pay fines. It is better to issue an MTPL policy in advance and always keep it with you while traveling by car.
