The MTPL policy is a guarantee of payment of damage to the driver who is the victim of an accident. Of course, the insured event is paid for if the person responsible for the accident has a policy. However, the amount of the insurance payment in this case is limited to 120,000 rubles. If the damage exceeds this amount, then the culprit is obliged to compensate the difference from his own funds. The DSAGO policy can solve this problem.

What is DSAGO

DSAGO is a voluntary civil liability insurance policy. Whether such an agreement is needed or not is a decision of the policyholder himself. Most often, this insurance is called "extended MTPL". When applying for a DSAGO policy, you can increase the amount of potential damage compensation up to 1 million rubles.

The DSAGO policy is not independent, but is considered an addition to the OSAGO. It only provides payment for the necessary difference between the damage in the event of an accident and the amount of the maximum payment under the main policy.

Where to apply for DSAGO

The DOSAGO policy is issued simultaneously with the OSAGO. The calculation of the insurance premium is influenced by the category of the vehicle, the length of service and age of the drivers allowed to drive, as well as some conditions of payment. The fact is that specific restrictions on the DSAGO from the state do not apply. Insurance companies can independently set the amount of additional compensation for damage from several possible options. Usually, the extension is issued for a minimum of 100 thousand rubles and a maximum of 1 million rubles. Depending on the conditions, a certain tariff is calculated.

There are two ways to issue a DSAGO policy. A mark on the expansion of the insured amount is made in the OSAGO or an additional policy is concluded on a separate form. There are no strict rules in this case.

Reasons for refusal to pay damages under DSAGO

There are several cases when the insurance company may refuse to pay damages under the DOSAGO policy. There are not so many similar situations, but every driver should remember them.

DSAGO is a motor third party liability insurance that arises only in the event of an accident. This means that the damage must be caused to one vehicle by another vehicle. That is why, if your vehicle is damaged due to force majeure, the damage will not be reimbursed to you.

Strictly defined tariffs are set for each expansion amount. Neither the policyholder nor the insurer has the right to change them.

If, in the event of an accident, your selfish intent is proved, then you should not expect payments from the insurance company either. Fraud on the road is very common, so it is not difficult for either insurers or traffic police to detect fraud.

If your car was stolen and then got into an accident on it, then there will be no compensation for damage caused by a third party who is not allowed to drive the vehicle and is not included in the policy. Under OSAGO and DSAGO only the liability of the insured and the drivers included in the list is insured.
