Due to the new legislative rules that have recently entered into force, car owners have many questions related to registering an engine when it is replaced. Previously, this procedure was mandatory in any situation, but today the rules exclude some cases.
To begin with, we will immediately determine that the registration of a new engine in the traffic police is not required if the brand and model of the new engine are absolutely similar to the previous one or the one provided by the car manufacturer. If you are replacing the engine not with a similar one, but with a copy of another model or brand, then you need to contact the technical supervision of the traffic police at your place of residence to obtain special permission to replace the part. Law enforcement agencies will conduct a free examination of the vehicle to exclude the possibility of forgery or inconsistency of documents, other license plates. Also, to register a car engine, it is necessary to prepare a number of documents, including an owner's application for a replacement, a car passport and a certificate of its registration, an owner's identity card, copies of PTS on both sides, an insurance policy for motor third party liability, all documents of the car owner that confirm that this is his property, as well as a receipt for payment of all necessary registration actions.
If you want to replace, for example, a VAZ engine, but due to the long service life or the conditions for buying a car, the engine number has been erased, then you will not have any problems when replacing it. If you install an engine similar to the one provided in the configuration, registration will not be necessary, and when checking documents, the number on the engine will not be verified, as was done before.
It must also be remembered that if the design of the car changes during the installation of the engine or the characteristics of the engine differ significantly from the previous one, the driver must go through the entire process above without fail, so that in the future there will be no questions when checking at a technical inspection. This applies to any brands of cars and engines that undergo any design changes.
