An intersection is the intersection of 2 or more roads. It is on it that road traffic accidents most often occur due to poor knowledge and non-observance of traffic rules by participants in accidents.
It is necessary
knowledge of traffic rules
Instructions
Step 1
In large cities and on roads with heavy traffic, intersections are most often controlled by traffic lights. Such intersections are called regulated and do not cause great difficulty, because in this case, you just need to be guided by the signal given by the traffic light. There are situations when a traffic light breaks down, then the traffic of cars is controlled by a traffic controller who helps them to pass this section.
Step 2
If there is neither a traffic light nor a traffic controller at an intersection, then such an intersection is considered unregulated. When driving through it, you should be guided by priority road signs. If you are driving on a main road, and it coincides with the direction of your car, then you go first, the rest give way to you. If you were driving on the main road, but will turn onto a secondary road, then you should take into account the rule of "right hand", ie give way to traffic on the right.
Step 3
If there are no priority signs, then you can try to determine by the road surface which one is the main one. A paved road (asphalt, gravel, etc.) will be the main road in relation to unpaved roads. In this case, you must also cross the intersection based on the priority of the main road.
Step 4
If the roads are equal, then the “right hand” rule should be followed; give way to traffic on the right.
Step 5
Special vehicles with working light and sound signals (police car, ambulance, fire engine, etc.) pass without any rules, and in urgent cases it is possible to drive even in the opposite lane. Trams running on rails also have priority over other road users.
Step 6
In some difficult situations, for example, when 4 cars simultaneously cross an unregulated intersection from different sides, the movement is carried out by agreement between the drivers. This can be a signal by flashing headlights, movement of a hand, etc. This situation occurs quite rarely, because at busy intersections, they try to regulate traffic with traffic lights or at least road signs.
