The fairing is quite a useful and necessary thing for people who love speed. It is not difficult to make this structure at home, the main thing is desire. Making a fairing for a motorcycle will take you less than an hour.
It is necessary
- - putty
- - thin saw
- - rough files
- - sharp boot knife
- - PVA glue
- - epoxy adhesive
- - fiberglass
- - putty
- - emery cloth
- - primer
Instructions
Step 1
Use the styrofoam to shape the fairing you want. Use hard foam (use a vegetable grater for the shape of the fairing). It is recommended to choose the shape of the fairing in the form of a wardrobe trunk in the closed state (together with the lid). At the same time, think about how to make a frame, at least on the side that will be attached to the motorcycle.
Step 2
After gluing, cut the case with a thin saw along the parting line of the lid along with the foam mold. Try on the finished form for the motorcycle at the points of its attachment.
Step 3
The resulting shape of the fairing must be putty. Use a two-component polyester filler. File and emery if necessary.
Step 4
Lubricate the mold with parquet polish or paraffin dissolved in gasoline.
Step 5
Saturate the glass cloth with epoxy glue, in a 1: 1 ratio (by weight). On a sheet of glass, or better on a piece of linoleum, put fiberglass, pour on it in a thin stream, over the entire surface, epoxy glue and spread. Wait 3-5 minutes for the glue to saturate the fabric. Then put it on a greased form, thus repeating 3-4 layers of fabric.
Step 6
Wait until the fairing is completely dry. Prime and paint it. Your motorcycle fairing is ready!
