Installing fog lights on a car allows you to better identify the car in unsightly weather conditions: in fog, rain or snow. Most importantly, the presence of such headlights ensures the comfort and safety of the driver and his passengers. When choosing fog lights, pay attention to lamps produced by well-known manufacturers of automotive optics, for example, Hella and Osram.
It is necessary
- - ruler;
- - pliers;
- - a set of screwdrivers;
- - wrench;
- - drill with drills.
Instructions
Step 1
Open the headlight housing. Pull out the optical element so as not to damage the glass when installing the fog lamps and when installing the halogen lamp. Choose lamps from renowned manufacturers. One of the leading companies is the OSRAM brand of automotive lamps. The lamps of this company are equipped with the basic models of almost all car manufacturers.
Step 2
Mark symmetrical spots on the stable surface of the bumper and drill holes for the headlights under or above the bumper. Treat the holes with an anti-corrosion coating. Install the headlight housings into the drilled holes. Place the relay in a convenient place for you, down with the contact wires so that water cannot get on them.
Step 3
Install the switch on the car dashboard. For these purposes, you can use the switch that is sold with the kit or a special switch that is located on the dashboard of your car.
Step 4
Disconnect the positive terminal from the battery to ensure safety. Route the wires according to the diagram that comes with the fog lamp installation instructions. Use the wires supplied with the headlights. If you are using other wires, make sure that the cross-section of the wires is the same.
Step 5
Place the halogen lamp in the optical element. Never touch the bulb with your hands. Take it by the base or use special knitted gloves.
Step 6
Connect the wires to the lamp and place the optical element in the fog lamp housing. Connect the positive terminal to the vehicle battery and test the headlights. Turn on the headlight when it is fully assembled. Attach and check the connection wires for tightness. If you have correctly installed the fog lights, the result of your work will be effective illumination of the roadway while the vehicle is moving.
