Now on the market there are a huge number of battery models from a variety of manufacturers. In order not to get confused in the store when choosing a battery for a VAZ, you need to know four main parameters: battery capacity, size, polarity and type of terminals.

Step 1
Determine the battery capacity. You can be guided by which battery was on your VAZ car earlier, but if it did not last long, then perhaps it was either of poor quality or was chosen incorrectly. In this case, use a very simple formula to calculate the capacity yourself: battery rating = generator rating * 0.75.
Thus, if the rating of your generator is 80Ah, then the capacity of your battery will be 80 * 0.75, that is, 60Ah. We strongly do not recommend installing a rechargeable battery, the capacity of which exceeds the result of your calculations: the generator of your VAZ simply cannot cope with its recharging.
Step 2
Determine the dimensions of the battery. Standard dimensions for most VAZ car models are 242x175x190 mm. Just in case, do not be too lazy to raise the hood of your VAZ and take measurements using a tape measure or a measuring tape.
Step 3
Determine the polarity of the battery. On most VAZ cars, the polarity of the battery is straight. This means that if you look at your old battery, its terminals will be located closer to the radiator grill, and the positive terminal will be on the left. If, for some reason, everything is the other way around (the battery terminals are located closer to the rear wall of the engine compartment, and the positive one is on the right), then the polarity is reversed.
Step 4
Determine the type of terminals. For VAZ cars, batteries with so-called European-type terminals are usually suitable: they are thicker than Asian-type terminals and, unlike American-type terminals, which have threads, they are attached using a small smooth metal clamp.
